Cliffhanger (ENGLISH)

Cliffhanger (Trevor Jones). One of the virtues of Cliffhanger is its beginning: a spectacular landscape, a man clinging to the mountain during the noble act of climbing it and a terrible event that leaves the spectator as sad as perplexed. Once all the attention is concentrated, the development of the story begins: US Treasury agent Travers travels by air guarding 3 suitcases with $ 100 million in cash. During the flight, Travers and his cronies try to steal the loot, but the plane and suitcases end up crashing into the mountains. It is then when they contact the rescue service, through a false call for help, to try to locate them. At that moment, the life of the rescuers who come to their aid becomes a nightmare when forced to cooperate with the criminals before of the threat of arms.

Hired at the request of Renny Harlin after listening to the soundtrack of The Last of the Mohicans, Trevor Jones composed one of his most remembered soundtracks. Although the film has a clear tone of commercial action, mountain landscapes take on a leading role, leaving the crack just so Jones could develop the fantastic main theme, and for which the director himself shed his tears when he heard it played by the orchestra in the recording session.

The original album released in 1993 provided 50 decent minutes of music, which were left behind after the remixed 2011 edition of Intrada, which increased the amount of music to 92 minutes. In 2017, La-La Land Records reissues the full score, including a new mix from the 1993 original mixes. The reissue includes the same music as Intrada's 2011 album (although broken down into different tracks), the expendable tracks from the original 1993 album and a bonus track. In addition, an extensive booklet with comments from each of the tracks completes this excellent edition.
