REVIEW

Lethal Weapon (ENGLISH)

Lethal Weapon (Michael Kamen and Eric Clapton). An almost unknown composer Michael Kamen was originally intended for the creation of the Lethal Weapon score. And despite his initial reticence about the action genre, he was finally convinced and could count with Eric Clapton for guitar performance and with David Sanborn for the saxophone performance, two instruments that made the game between the two policemen protagonists, the zany Martin Riggs and the serene Roger Murtaugh.

Michael Kamen prints its unmistakable stamp, which, although not provide great melodies in the style of other more media composers, it fills the sound space correctly in a difficult genre for music composition. With Amanda, the soundtrack exposes the suspense component at the beginning of the film, but, immediately, the sax from Meeting Martin Riggs / Roger's Daughter lets hear the funniest connotations of the peculiar pair of cops. With this, along with the disturbing use of strings and brass, Kamen fills a soundtrack full subtle details.

The soundtrack was originally released in 1987, including 9 tracks of Kamen / Clapton score and the original sung theme "Lethal Weapon" played by Honeymoon Suite, a Canadian band recommended by Mel Gibson. In 2002, Michael Kamen himself edited a promotional version in limited edition of 3000 copies of the Lethal Weapon score through his new record label, Bacchus Media Group. This version extended significantly the amount of music from the 40 minutes of the original album until the 65 minutes of this limited edition.

Finally, in 2013, La-La Land Records releases one of their most ambitious editions, and publishes an 8-CD box with music the music of the 4 Lethal Weapon films, including more music unpublished until then. Music for Lethal Weapon is included in the first 2 discs. Disc 1 includes the expanded score, while disc 2 includes the original album released in 1987 and several alternate tracks. All of this commented on a very extensive booklet with notes and photographs that traces the creation of the 4 movies. All of this makes the 2013 compilation a treasure dreamed for the fans of Lethal Weapon and the music of Michael Kamen.

Arma Letal (ESPAÑOL)

Arma Letal (Michael Kamen y Eric Clapton).
