REVIEW

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (ENGLISH)

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (Greg Edmonson). Again looking for clues around the world, Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan follow the trail of Marco Polo. Meanwhile, Chloe Frazer (a former Nathan’s "friend") meets the protagonist, but helping Zoran Lazarevic on the other side, in his search for the legendary city of Shambhala and the Cintamani Stone, stone that grants wishes to the one who carries it. During the adventure, Nathan and Sully meet again journalist Elena Fisher, who is precisely investigating Lazarevic, and who will accompany them during their search.

Emotional, adventurous, dynamic and catchy. All the features for the dreamed theme are fulfilled by Nate's Theme 2.0, a more refined version of Nathan Drake's theme, with better orchestration and better sound than the one from the first game. As in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, this album has multiple passages of ethnic tone to simulate the different places in which the adventure takes place. With voices and instruments that suggest the Middle East, The City Street is a great beginning of the soundtrack after the magnificent main theme. Edmonson does an excellent job, very inspired for this second part, creating a soundtrack that without a doubt is among the best of the audiovisual media. With Reunion appears the most intimate character of the soundtrack, a great secondary theme that powerfully exalts the action of Nathan Drake and company.

Continuing with the tracks of the soundtrack, Desperate Times is a typical theme of melody in acute and emotional strings, while in Helicopter and Tank continues with the themes of pure action, perfectly carried between wind metal, string effects and the snare drum. Marco Polo, the absent secondary protagonist of Uncharted 2, appears on this track that bears his name, with touches of reminiscence and memories from the famous merchant. For its part, The Monastery makes a perfect exercise with metal, emulating grandiosity and breadth that suggests this type of scenario. Other tracks, such as Warzone, alter melodic passages with a strong presence of melody in metal wind, with traces of ethnic instruments that suggest the exotic places visited by the protagonist traveler, and that are excellently rounded off. Only praise fits this soundtrack. The use of voice soloists for specific moments, such as the female solo in Train Wrecked, round out an almost perfect musical product. The Road to Sahmbhala, composed by Carmen Rizzo, puts the final differential touch in this rhythmic pseudo-electronic piece.

Uncharted 2 is undoubtedly a very inspired work by Greg Edmonson that is very much enjoyed in isolated listening. In general, the music of the second part of the Uncharted saga greatly improves the musical universe with respect to the first part, presenting a more attractive score and a better sound quality album.
